Last month we announced that JDM oil manufacturer ENEOS and Super Street were teaming up to find the perfect build to send to the Specialty Equipment Market Association trade show, or as its more commonly known, SEMA.
After posting a few call outs on the Super Street Instagram page we were hit with over 200 entries! Narrowing them down wasn't easy, but after some discussion and a healthy dose of debate the final 9 entries were determined, and this is where you come in.
We need you to visit here and vote for the car you think deserves a trip to SEMA 2018!
@z4cro's Evo has the bite to match its Varis-enhanced bark. He started with an FP Red SS turbo, GSC S2 cams, valve springs and retainers, and a ported intake and exhaust manifold, then added a Buschur exhaust with SD muffler. Add to that SpoolinUp's coil-on-plug kit and a set of ID2000 injectors and you have the makings of a 523whp Evo on E54.
Outside you'll find the aforementioned Varis bits like the front bumper with carbon fiber lip, canards, front fenders and side panels, side skirts with carbon fiber under boards, rear diffuser and a 1600mm Euro GT wing. A set of TE37SLs finishes off the exterior nicely.
There's a good chance you've heard about or seen the @ape_inc Honda Accord wagon on social media. What it lacks in shiny, high-dollar paint, it more than makes up for with ingenuity. Converted to rear wheel drive and powered by of all things Nissan's iconic RB25 with a single HKS GT28 turbo, power is sent to the rear via R33 GTS-T driveshaft. Massive 18x14-inch Rezax rear wheels help put the power down, while the squat is handled by Function/Form Type II S13 coilovers.
The roof has been chopped out to make space for a custom cage that occupies the majority of cabin space, leaving a set of Bride buckets up front for the driver and passenger. It's the type of build that you never saw coming and it has some singing its praises while others sulking in disdain. Whatever side you're on, you can't help but appreciate something completely outside the norm.
Hailing from Chicago, @connor_lol has pieced together a 2013 FR-S that checks all of the boxes. From the complete Rocket Bunny aero and TRD updates, to the D240 3-piece CCW wheels, Connor's FR-S looks the part.
And more than just a looker, Connor opted for a Treadstone Performance turbo kit based around Borg Warner's EFR 6758 turbo, and with a tune on E85 at just 11psi, he was able to put over 350hp to the rear wheels.
Who doesn't love a well-built FD3S? This yellow version from @jdmpalace features the full RE Amemiya treatment that includes their AD-GT Aero set (front/rear bumpers, wider front fenders, rear over fenders), carbon fiber rear and side diffusers, sleek lights and aero mirrors all set off by a Voltex GT-Wing.
Under the hood is more of the same with RE taking on the rotary build-up that relies on a GReddy TD07 turbo and stainless turbo manifold that, under the watchful eye of an A'Pexi power FC, belts out 475hp.
Forget labels, forget groups, and instead, take a look at @Jdotpham's GS 400 that you can't force into a category because it doesn't subscribe to a specific build type. You're used to seeing VIP-style Lexus sedans but this one crosses over nicely into high-performance territory with a 2JZ-GTE VVT-i swap and single Garrett GT4088R. It gets its adjustable ride height from Fortune Auto's Air Piston Lift System that also delivers 15K rear/16 front spring rates and the sedan's arches are filled by TE37 Ultra in classic bronze.
The custom matte grey paint is as spotless as it is understated and the ultra clean engine bay will have naysayers completely re-thinking a sedan build.
It wouldn't be a contest without at least one Skyline and @nismobuck delivers with his '95 GTS-T. With a Precision 6266 turbo slapped to his RB25 and backed by ID1050 injectors, he was able to make 560hp.
Keeping with a functional and simple exterior, you won't find any vented fenders or bolt-on girth but instead, Type M side skirts and rear bumper valances along with an R33 GT-R wing. Simple, sleek and effective.
An aggressive look is one way to describe @panda_q91's '12 STI. Relying on Varis aero, like the vented hood, Hyper double canards, widebody bumper and fender kits, and more, the hatchback carries a pissed-off look and sounds just as angry with its engine upgrades. Upgrades that are based around a Full Race turbo kit that sends extreme puffs of air through Kelford cams-equipped, IAG-spec ported and polished heads that sit atop a closed-deck conversion that's been bored and honed to 99.75mm and stuffed with Manley pistons and IAG custom-spec Tri-Beam rods. Throw in 3 Bosch 044 fuel pumps, 1,700cc injectors, and an Aftermarket Industries 5L surge tank kit and good things happen.
Inside the cabin it's all business with a custom roll cage, a pair of Recaro buckets, and a custom, very simple dash that incorporates an AIM digital cluster.
Are you a fan of old-school builds? How about this classic Corolla owned by @xhaymakerx. It features a kouki Levin conversion, Origin widebody kit, and Dmax front bumper, and sits on a set of AME Fatale Fzero 2 wheels in 15x9.5.
To get the right height and handling, a long list of suspension upgrades that include Techno Toy Tuning LCAs, BC Racing custom valved coilovers with roll center adjusters, and a complete S13 subframe conversion with custom shock towers were added. And taking advantage of those upgrades is an SR20DET blacktop swap with a slick v-mount setup.
@n00dler put together an S2000 that not only looks good but can also hold its own on the track. The AP2'sd Voltex aero kit an Type 7 Swan Neck wing are capped off with an authentic Mugen hardtop and SSR GTX01 wheels wrapped in aggressive AD08R tires complete the look. Behind those 18x9.5in wheels you'll find a StopTech brake kit, Ballade Sports spherical arm bushings, Spoon rigid collars, and a number of other suspension upgrades that help control the HKS supercharged power.
Tuned by Blacktrax using AEM's Infinity and squirting fuel through a set of 1,300cc injectors, power is transferred to a Puddymod Stage 2 diff and J's Racing LSD. Inside, a set of Bride Gardis III seats with Sabelt harnesses and a Momo Mod 78 steering wheel face the front while right behind the driver sits a Harddog roll bar.
