How Much Would You Bid For This 1997 Toyota Supra With 48K Miles?

15th Anniversary Mk4 Supra unicorn with original twin-turbo 2JZ-GTE, rare JDM parts and rebuilt BBS RS II wheels.

It's honestly hard to believe Toyota decided to discontinue the fourth generation Supra (Mk4/A80) after 1998 due to low demand. The healthy 320hp, 315 lb-ft of torque made by the twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six 2JZ-GTE mated to a six-speed Getrag gearbox was indestructible and begged enthusiasts to turn up the power. The Mk4 also featured an aluminum hood, front crossmember, upper control arms and all sorts of engine bits to shave weight - technology and details that were ahead of their time.

Now more than 20 years later, a 1993-1998 Supra Turbo in good condition with low miles goes for close to double its MRSP from back in the day, with immaculate ones finding their way into car collections of the rich and famous. Last year, a 1993 Supra with 10K miles sold for $128,000 on bringatrailer.com, while a 1997 Anniversary Edition Targa model at Barrett-Jackson with 69,891 miles went for a whopping $176,000! Pretty insane, and it got me wondering just how much this particular white 1997 Supra Turbo would be worth with a hair under 49K miles.

I discovered this unicorn on a recent visit to AR Motorwerkz in Pasadena, California, when I test fitted a set of custom 20-inch BBS LM wheels on my A90 project car. Like the Mk4 that sold for $176K, this Super White beauty was also a limited edition 15th Anniversary model with the twin-turbo 2J and six-speed manual intact. The owner did however install a handful of choice parts, which include an HKS titanium exhaust, Blitz turbo timer, Defi gauges, StopTech front and rear brakes, and suspension.

As for the BBS RS II wheels, the owner has been holding onto them for years and even had them installed on the Supra before the big brake kits. Spec'd in a conservative 18-inch fitment, he brought the wheels to AR where the RS IIs were built up to 19-inch using new high-polished lips and hidden hardware that still maintained the structural integrity of the wheel. The centers were then refinished in brushed titanium. The final spec is 19x9.5" ET45 front and 19x11" ET55 rear with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires all around. You'll notice there's no crazy step lips like you often see on RS II rebuilds today, but that's due to the fact that these BBS had to accommodate those huge calipers.

The verdict? Well, I think the photos speak for themselves. This A80 Supra is drop dead gorgeous! The nineteens might be a bit big for most Mk4 purists but for the owner, he's pleased that AR was able to update his original BBS wheels and make them fit his car. Unfortunately, the Supra isn't getting put up for sale anytime soon but that doesn't mean the owner isn't entertaining offers. Who'd like to start the bidding?
