The european car Tuner GP is back for 2017 with a new name and new twist. This year’s focus pits against one another street-tuned BMW 1, 2, 3, and 4 Series on the road course and dynamometer.

The event will consist of two parts, a time trial on the South Palm Track at the BMW Performance Center West at the Thermal Club in Thermal, Calif., and a horsepower contest on the dyno at World Motorsports Wind Tunnel Dyno in Torrance. Continental Tire is the official title sponsor of the 2017 Tuner GP and will provide all selected competitors a free set of ExtremeContact™ Sport tires for the event – please click here for available tire sizes. ALL NO-SHOWS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE TIRES.

The 2017 Tuner GP is open to any street-driven BMW 1, 2, 3, or 4 Series, with a preference toward enthusiast- and tuner-built cars. All competitors will be street-driven tuner cars, no dedicated racecars. The competition is open to 2- and 4-door cars, full interiors, back seats (if applicable) and all interior pieces in place, including the cargo area. The front seats can be changed to racing seats if desired, but the car must still have two front seats. Any rollover protection, body-stiffening/bracing must be bolted-in.

The engine must remain in the factory location, and no engine swaps are allowed. Big turbos, multiple turbos, supercharging is all allowed. The car must be streetable and “street legal” meaning aftermarket downpipes are allowed.

Any bolt-on suspension modification is allowed. The modification of sub-frames is allowed, as long as the suspension type is still the same as what the factory offered.

Aerodynamic modifications are allowed, but the car must be able to clear a speed bump. Braking modifications are allowed as long as they are deemed safe and reliable.

Coverage of the 2017 Tuner GP will be featured across european car’s magazine, social and web properties, and an event video will be produced and shared on Motor Trend’s YouTube channel as well as european car’s Facebook page.
