Ferrari destruction, 10-second AMG GT S, engine shredder, and more for the week of July 10

Jul 10, 2015

DRIFTING GONE WRONG
The good news is no one got killed in this LA-area fail – even the dude that was upended after being struck. The bad news is the driver and his crew apparently haven’t learned anything, if we’re to believe their online bravado. Luckily the legitimate drifting community seems rightly pissed off about the whole thing and the message it sends (here’s another angle).

CCR Ferrari Challenge Crash At Road America 2015
While this one kicks off with an ominous “Viewer Discretion Advised,” not much NSFW here; still, it’s a pretty gnarly wreck – heading into Turn 5 after a long straight, Jim Booth’s 458 goes airborne for over 400 feet at 150-plus mph, and then gets ripped to shreds by the catch fencing. Miraculously you see him emerge from the mangled vehicle, and we hear no one was seriously hurt.

Anki OVERDRIVE Official Reveal Trailer | Launches September 2015
Next-level slot cars without the slots – Anki calls it “robot battle racing,” and it looks to be app based. All we want to know is where do we sign up?!

World's First AMG GT S 10sec 1/4 Mile Pass | RENNtech | ADV.1
Sweet-sounding Mercedes coupe runs a 10.9 at 128mph on Palm Beach International Raceway’s 1320.

VB 950 DK (RED GIANT) Motorblöcke / Engine Blocks
Junkyards have the coolest destructive machinery – like the Hammel “Red Giant” here, a 710hp shredder that can turn engine blocks into tiny chunks of scrap metal. Brutal.
