Church Automotive Testing's founder, owner and chief tuner, Shawn Church, is arguably one of the most experienced Honda tuners in the country. He better be-Shawn can be credited with more than 2,000 Honda tunes. As the Wilmington, Calif., company's name implies, the business revolves around two Dynapack chassis dynamometers used for loading, testing and tuning customer engines. Although Shawn will take just about anything, it's Hondas the shop sees mostly. ECU and parts sales are a small part of the business but Shawn's shop is unique because 95 percent of what he does is tune cars. No engine builds or turbo installs-this is strictly a place for tuning. From the moment he walks through the door in the morning to the time he turns the lights off at night a car is on that dyno. Everything from 800hp race cars to smog-legal street cars pass through the roll-up doors. Shawn tunes all of them. The Dynapack dyno's constant loading ability allows Shawn to fine-tune ignition and fuel curves at any amount of throttle opening and to achieve his goal of OEM driveability, or better, every time.
