Beyond the chassis, wheels, and boosted motivation, there’s one similarity between these two sedans—Autoline Motorsports. For over 13 years, Autoline of Manila has served as a staple in the thriving automotive aftermarket movement in the Philippines. The 2,600-square-foot shop, spearheaded by Filipino-Chinese entrepreneur Alex Ong, houses seven mechanics, two sales staff members, and a showroom filled with high-end performance and aesthetic goods. Offering parts from heavy hitters like Volk, Advan, TEIN, Öhlins, and a host of others, Autoline has maintained a devout following over the years.
On the mechanical side, the group specializes in just about every aspect of service from basic maintenance to custom suspension, brake, and exhaust systems, to turbocharged applications like Enrico and Marbel’s sedans.
Though Ong admits Autoline has plenty of competition, the shop’s success has come from hard work and a few opportunities that have helped to establish their skill set. He adds, “There are quite a few tuner shops in the country with different specialties and their own niche market. Fortunately for us, we’ve had a few big breaks.” Big breaks include building a number of recognizable cars in their country, including five turbo FDs that have drawn an enormous amount of attention. “Really, we’re just an average tuner shop that has gotten a few big breaks from customers’ project cars. Trust is the key word, and we’ve been fortunate enough to have been entrusted with these projects.” Humble words from a shop that has produced some remarkable builds that would no doubt stand out in any corner of the world.
