Tom Says: I’ve been working on this car since I bought it new from the dealer about three years ago. My plan was to keep the setup simple — just slammed super-low and that’s it. But it didn’t work out that way. Every time I stare at this car, I feel like I need to upgrade something more. Maybe that’s what it is — if you’re into cars, you just can’t stop doing something you really love to do! You need to do progress over time to make the car look better and satisfy yourself. I’m really into Hondas, my first car was a ’94 Civic hatchback. I decided to build [the ’08 Si] because I really love the JDM Civic Type-R, but we’re not lucky enough to have it here in U.S. So I decided to get the USDM four-door Civic Si and do a Type-R body conversion. I really love this car and the feeling when VTEC engages — it’s awesome! I’ve done a lot of work, but there’s more to come. I plan on doing a paintjob soon and maybe a turbo or 2.4-liter swap.
We Say: Tom’s styling choices with his Civic are pretty cool, in our minds. We like the all-carbon front end, the gray paint looks very subtle with all the accent pieces and the wheel choice adds a nice little bit of flair. Also, having the CTR conversion done front and back isn’t something you see every day. We would love to see Tom continue to modify his suspension and powerplant, go toward the performance side of things and shy away from what appears to be borderline hellaflush tendencies.
