Early previews of Heavenly Sword thrilled gamers with its stunning visuals, amazing fighting sequences and gorgeous heroine, Nariko. Nariko is part of a proud clan of people charged with protecting the Heavenly Sword, a powerful weapon once owned by a god and infused with legendary powers. As fate would have it, the clan comes under attack from the evil King Botan who destroys the clan in order to steal the sword. In a desperate move, Nariko takes up the Heavenly Sword to avenge her family and clan knowing she will pay the ultimate price for using the sword. Nariko knows that a mortal cannot wield the sword as the legend says-it continues to drain the life force of the user until death takes over once and for all.
The sheer power of the PS3 shines through on Heavenly Sword as sophisticated animation, hardcore physics and advanced enemy A.I. give gamers an amazingly beautiful yet intense fighting game that grabs players from the start. Nariko's flame-color hair whips, dances and floats through the air in stark contrast to awesome combat taking place on screen as she battles in both one-on-one encounters and against dozens of enemies at a time with the incredible powers of the Heavenly Sword. All the gameplay takes place in real-time, and A.I. enemies are smart and carry out their own attacks and use features like squad-based dynamics to command their troops. Nariko's sword can transform into three distinct stances that can be used during gameplay to create unique fighting styles and help defeat difficult bosses in battle. Environmental objects like chairs or tables can be used as weapons, but we prefer other weapons that include sweet killers like multi-skewering spears and explosive bazookas for some nice, hot firepower. Heavenly Sword plays as good as it looks, and gamers should have a great time taking Nariko to new heights of glory and revenge in this awesome action game.
