Sonic the Hedgehog is back and celebrating 15 years as a video game icon. Making his debut on the new consoles, Sonic shows off new moves in his brand new adventure, which takes place for the first time in a human world called Soleanna. Soleanna is the city of water ruled by the Princess Elise, who becomes Sonic's new friend before she is kidnapped by the evil Dr. Eggman. The Doctor has villainous plans for Princess Elise's kingdom, but luckily, Sonic is ready to help rescue his new friend and return Soleanna to its once peaceful state.

To do this, not only must Sonic take on legions of enemies, but he must deal with a mysterious new character named Silver. Despite all of Sonic's cool moves, he's going to have to work extra hard to go up against Silver's awesome supernatural powers. Gamers play in two different types of gameplay stages. The first lets gamers explore the huge environment with various sub-missions, and the second is an action stage that takes advantage of Sonic's super speed. Throughout the game, more mysteries are revealed and solved until finally, Sonic must do battle against the evil Dr. Eggman himself.

All the new hardware is used to fully enhance the game on every level. The production value and animation are outstanding, providing gamers with fantastic looking, detailed worlds that bring Sonic's adventure to life. Great new special effects, like motion-blur, totally emphasize Sonic's breakneck speed, and a new physics engine updates all aspects of the game. The animations all run smoothly, which is especially important for Sonic when he is racing around levels, going through objects and taking out enemies. All characters react to gameplay situations in a realistic manner thanks to their upgraded A.I. programming, which gives a nice challenge to gamers throughout the adventure. Sonic may be a legend, but he's still got what it takes to make an action-packed game.
