Activision comes out swinging with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, a hard-hitting, action RPG that has gamers assembling their "dream team" of heroes to fight Dr. Doom's evil new plan for world domination. Dr. Doom goes big time, as he teams up with the newly reformed Masters of Evil to help him carry out his nefarious plans. Unfortunately for them, the super heroes come together as a team to fight Dr. Doom and destroy his plans. Gamers get to select from a roster of over 20 playable heroes to form their perfect four-person team. All-time great heroes like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Electra, Thor, Captain America and the Fantastic Four are ready for action to take on whomever Dr. Doom sends after them.

For Marvel: Ultimate Alliance a brand new storyline was developed, there are no re-treads here as Dr. Doom's plan of evil takes gamers through 17 different locations from the Marvel universe. How the story plays out is determined by a player's actions throughout the game like which missions to take on and how they interact with other characters. There is an RPG flavor integrated into the game that includes being able to customize all the playable characters with upgrades to their skills, health, weapons and several new costume options. Also, gamers must manage their team by deciding whether to upgrade characters individually or the team as a whole.

Easy-to-use controls allow gamers to switch between team members with the D-Pad to take advantage of special skills or superpowers for different types of battles. Although gamers can only play one lead character at a time, the other three team members can do their fair share of fighting and often have your back at critical moments so you aren't always doing the hard work alone. Fighting is fast paced and fun with great combos and melee moves, plus cool chargeable powers for those heavy-duty ass kickings that all evildoers deserve. Use environmental objects to smash enemies or, for some extra fun, throw enemies to the ground then chuck something heavy at them for good measure. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is available on all consoles and handhelds, so if being a super hero sounds cool to you, then Ultimate Alliance has your name on it.
