Essa Scores Formula Drift Round 3 Victory

Palm Beach Win is First for Driver

The third round of the Formula Drift series took place at the Palm Beach International Raceway in Palm Beach, Florida, marking the third time that Formula Drift has held the event at the Palm Beach raceway, but it marked a first for one driver -- Michael Essa.

Not only was Palm Beach the first win for Essa and his GSR Autosport/ Yokohama Tire BMW M3, it's the first time he's ever stepped on the podium in the Formula D series. The win moves him into third place overall in the 2013 season points standings.

Although Essa won the third round, this race was far from easy. Following close behind was defending champ Daigo Saito in the Bridges Racing/Achilles Tire Lexus SC430. Essa waited for the right moment to overtake and that came in the form of Saito making an error big enough for the pass.
