Screeching tires and a cacophony of IndyCar exhaust explosions greeted us Tuesday night on Main St. as Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios celebrated the newest installment of Forza Motorsport 5.
With a packed house of E3 industry media and executives, Turn 10 Studios Creative Director, Dan Greenawalt, was on hand to announce the famed motorsports simulators newest features. Including the addition of open-wheeled racing cars like modern IndyCars as well as Niki Lauda and James Hunts 1976 Formula1 racing cars. Which coordinates nicely with the release of Ron Howard's newest movie, RUSH (in theaters September 20th).
Roaming the grounds of the lavish, former church, settings of The Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles, the Forza Motorsports 5 party was the hottest ticket in town, and for good reason. Amongst the sea of people supercars, racecars and some of the best tuning cars were found sprinkled amongst the crowd.
If you were lucky enough to garner an invitation you were even treated to several gaming stations where you could pilot the cover car, a McLaren P1, through a European city and get a feel for all the newest graphic detail and, new to any simulator we've seen, tire degradation.
To say Forza Motorsports 5 will be putting GT6 on its toes is an understatement. We certainly can't wait to get our hands on copy - assuming we can procure a Xbox One console.
