Inspired by one of the best-selling video game franchises in the world, with more than 140 million games sold the race-driven Electronic Arts "Need for Speed" video game series will make its film debut starring a Ford Mustang.
"'The Need for Speed' movie will embody everything that fans of action racing films want to see - hot cars, high-stakes street racing and mind-blowing stunts," said Scott Waugh, director of the "Need for Speed" film. "The adrenaline-fueled story across America will keep viewers on the edge of their seats."
The custom designed wide-body Mustang will feature 22-inch alloy wheels and larger air intakes helping to feed the supercharged V8 engine. Other Ford products such as an F-450 truck cast as "The Beast," and a specially-designed Mustang camera car were used for the film too.
The film chronicles a cross-country journey experienced by the film's heroes that begins as a mission for revenge but ends as a mission for redemption. "Need for Speed" hopes to restore the success of the legendary American car culture films of the 1960's and '70's but with a modern twist.
Starring Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots, Michael Keaton, and directed by Scott Waugh, "Need for Speed" will hits theaters March 4, 2014. Also keep a look out for the next in the "Need for Speed" franchise "Need for Speed Rivals" available for Xbox 360 and other game systems on November 19.
