Auctions America, a company specializing in the sale of American classics, European sports cars, hot rods and customs, is coming to Burbank, CA on August 1st through 3rd - live NBC Sports Network coverage beginning on Aug. 2nd. And with it is a long list of rare to previously-owned-by-celebrity cars. One such vehicle slotted into the auction and featured here is a 1974 BMW 2002tii Touring Alpina previously owned by Fast and Furious star Paul Walker.
The early ‘70s BMW is equipped with a 2000cc, inline four-cylinder engine with mechanical fuel-injection and a five-speed Gertrag Quick Shift manual transmission. This particular 2002tii Touring was upgraded by the dealer after purchase with an Alpina kit. The kit included fog lights, graphics, minor mechanical upgrades, wheels and interior bits.
The BMW 2002 was probably the most important automobile BMW ever built.
For those unfamiliar with the vintage BMW 2000, it is iconic to the brand and an early predecessor to today’s 3 Series. The 2000 was produced from 1968 to 1976. The fuel-injected 2002tii variant was released in 1971 and is even more sought after in the states since it featured fuel-injection and improved performance of the time.
As stated in european car 1966-1976 BMW 2002 – On the Line:
“The BMW 2002 was probably the most important automobile BMW ever built. Before its arrival in the mid '60s, the Munich-based manufacturer was known for its boxer-engine motorcycles, a few odd little Isetta microcars and a range of expensive, limited-production sedans. This was a company going nowhere fast. All of that changed, however, with the introduction of the BMW 1600-2 in 1966.”
For those lucky enough to own a 2002tii, only produced from 1971 to 1975, hold onto to it and contact european car with its info as it may wind up featured like the Sun-Kissed Screamer.
