Nissan announced significant reductions in price for the 2014 370Z Coupe base model and the 370Z Coupe Touring grade. The 370Z Coupe base model MSRP is now set at $29,990 for the manual, a $3,130 reduction. The 370Z Coupe Touring manual currently carries an MSRP of $35,270 (excluding the $790 destination and handling fee), a $2,550 reduction. Prices for the revised 2014 370Z NISMO and 2014 370 Roadster remain unchanged. Why the reduction in price for the Coupe and Touring grade?
Nissan claims that the price slash was made in order to increase the 370Z Coupe’s competitiveness in the growing sports car marketplace, which may have been a smart move on their part. A quick glance at Nissan’s U.S. sales for the 370Z reveal that in June 2012, 720 units were sold, however, the number s for June 2013 dropped to 590. A price reduction may bring more customers to the table. The reduced price for the 370Z Coupe base model is now slightly above comparable vehicles such as the 200--hp Subaru BRZ Limited, which has a base MSRP of $27,495 for the manual, excluding $770 for destination and delivery.
Although the 2014 370Z NISMO’s price was not reduced, it now boasts a new look. The components under the hood have been unchanged; it still comes with an impressive 3.7- liter V6, close-ratio 6-speed manual and 350hp. However, new additions to the exterior and interior include: new dark grey color for the front and rear fascias, lower side sills, side mirrors and NISMO rear spoiler, with each element (except side sills) featuring NISMO-style red pinstripe accents. The interior enhancements include the addition of a new steering wheel with Alcantara® appointments and red accents and a red NISMO tachometer.
