• Audi Fleet Shuttle Quattro to debut in feature film Ender’s Game
• Computer designed Audi in a feature film is a first for the car company
• Concept resembles the one-off Audi RSQ from I, Robot
• Ender’s Game featuring Harrison Ford set to come out on November 1, 2013
German automaker Audi is not shy about placing its cars in Hollywood films - most notably in the Iron Man franchise. Recently, the R8 e-Tron appeared in the Iron Man 3 blockbuster alongside character Tony Stark. This November, Audi will steal the spotlight once again in the science fiction film adaptation of the award-winning, best-selling novel Ender’s Game. Unveiling a purely virtual Audi in a feature film is a first for the car company.
The futuristic Audi Fleet Shuttle Quattro is the result of the collaborative effort between Audi, the film’s director Gavin Hood, and the production team who used the latest technology to digitally integrate the fleet into the film. “The Audi in the movie represents progress and it appears in key scenes that have a lasting impact on the life of the protagonist,” explained Florian Zitzlsperger, responsible for Brand Partnerships at AUDI AG. “With this, our Audi becomes a part of this fictional world.”
A similar concept was conceived in 2004, when a one-off Audi RSQ appeared in the film I, Robot featuring actor Will Smith. The car featured two doors that opened upwards and twisted slightly like a butterfly’s wings, much like the doors of the Fleet Shuttle Quattro. Both concepts are also tied to films with futuristic themes.
The feature film Ender’s Game starring Harrison Ford is set to come out in theaters on November 1, 2013.
