The Porsche Panamera, known for blending four-door luxury and performance, is stepping up its game with more power, a longer wheelbase and more comfort-oriented features. With the world premiere just around the corner at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, November 20-21, this new addition to the lineup will attract those looking for extra power and rear passenger legroom.
Total power output of the Panamera Turbo S comes in at 570hp, which is a 50hp increase over the Panamera Turbo. This is achieved via two new turbochargers with larger compressors. These increase air flow while the chargers push more oxygen into the combustion chambers. The injection pressure has also been increased by 20 bar to 140 bar.
Torque increased to 553 lb-ft between 2250rpm and 5000rpm with overboost increasing torque momentarily to 590 lb-ft. This is achieved via the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chambers being prepared more effectively. All of this pushes the all-new Panamera to a top speed of 192mph, going from 0-60mph in in 3.6sec.
The optional sport exhaust doesn't hurt matters either, offering occupants a unique sound experience. This is by means of an acoustic channel that can be switched at the push of a button, directs engine sound into the cabin.
To slow down are powerful ceramic brakes with yellow calipers. These brakes offer faster response and resistance to corrosion thanks to a reduction in mass of approximately 50 percent.
Among the many features available on the Porsche Panamera Turbo S is the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system that optimizes torque flow to the wheels. The Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) features an active roll stabilization system, reducing the vehicles lateral inclination in curves.
The interior offers luxury finishes such as two-tone leather and rich wood tones. Embossed Porsche crests on the front headrests completes the look. Not only do the front and rear seats include seat ventilation as standard, but there is 4.7in of addition rear seat leg room - wheelbase is lengthened 5.9in. Lumbar support and electrical steering column adjustment and optional 18-way adjustment is available. A folding central arm rest offers more comfort options at the rear as well as electronic roll-up sunblinds for all passengers offering improved privacy.
The whole car is finished in Palladium Metallic paint color available exclusively to the Panamera Turbo S and rides on 20in 911 Turbo II wheels. A four-way rear spoiler painted body color completes the exterior look.
For those that want to further improve the passenger experience, a more expensive Executive model is available. It incorporates 12 additional inchses of space in the footwell, active ventilation to each seat, electronic roll-up blinds and side airbags for both rear seats.
MSPR of the Panamera Turbo S starts at $180300 and the Panamera Turbo S Executive starts at $200500, not including delivery charges. The models are available for order now with pickup planned for January 2014.
