european car has reported on the Bilstein 'Just Add' sweepstakes, which began with three potential cars: Ford Mustang GT, Ford F-150 or BMW 335i. From there, modifications were chosen based on votes before being equipped by GSR Autosport. The winner received not only the car but a trip to SEMA 2013.
Now we are happy to report the finished product has been received by the winner of this modified 335i. The keys were handed over during a November 6 press conference at the SEMA 2013 show. european car was there to speak with the winner, David Smit.
Unlike most who enter a sweepstakes, Smit entered through a friend's link seen on Facebook and really didn't think about it until he got the call from Bilstein. When we asked if Smit and his wife Cheryl were in need of a new car their reply was "Yes, desperately." Smit plans to put miles on the odometer right away, "I would like to do a lot of the BMW CCA driving tours that the BMW club does, hit some of the Cars and Coffee's, and every weekend in Scottsdale, AZ there is the Pavilion's parking lot car show."
A well deserved winner indeed, Smit is a lifelong car enthusiast, "I've been going to car shows since I was probably that tall (holding his hand above the ground at a young child's height), my brother is into muscle cars and I'm into anything. I used to be really big into BMWs, kind of into the C10 trucks now, but I'll be getting back into the BMWs. But it doesn't really matter, Sport Compact, Rat Rods, I'm pretty much into it all." We turned to his wife to ask if she was at all into the car hobby and she said, "I support his habit."
When we asked if they had anything else to add, Smit said, "I've never won anything before." We happen to think that this is a great first. Congratulations David and Cheryl Smit!
