Developed specifically for the much-anticipated Sony PlayStation 3 Gran Turismo 6 (GT6) racing simulator, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept will make its world debut on November 19, 2013 at the opening of the new Mercedes-Benz Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, CA. Additionally, it will be available for download as a virtual supercar in conjunction with the release of Gran Turismo 6 in December 2013.
The supercar boasts AMG’s V8 biturbo engine capable of 577hp, and a maximum torque of 590 lb-ft of torque.
The GT6 concept features a long hood, which transitions into a compact greenhouse. Its angled headlights and aggressive lines give it a menacing look. The radiator grille’s shape resembles that of the legendary 1952 300SL race car, however, LEDs incorporated into the design reinforce its technologically-driven direction.
The F1-inspired cockpit features two red sports seats, and a center display that is operational via rocker switches on the dashboard and overhead console.
Around back, the AMG sports exhaust system showcases eight tailpipes integrated into the rear end, suggesting a powerful exhaust note.
The popular Gran Turismo franchise, which has immortalized a number of supercars, including the BMW Vision Gran Turismo, celebrates its 15th birthday this year. To help celebrate, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept joins the lineup of innovative concepts, which help provide insight into further vehicle development.
