2015 Audi Q3 SUV Announced

Compact sport utility joining the larger Q5 and Q7 in lineup

The all-new 2015 Q3 officially joins the rest of Audi's American SUV lineup, including the Q5 and Q7, on January 13th. That's when it makes its US debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, after which the Q3 will arrive in US showrooms come fall of 2014.

This premium compact sport utility features a 2.0-liter TFSI engine with a claimed 200hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed Tiptronic transmission and standard front-wheel-drive puts the power to the ground, but an optional Audi quattro permanent all-wheel drive system is also available. You can additionally opt for the Audi drive select system, which allows the driver to adjust handling and response at the touch of a button using Comfort, Dynamic, and Auto modes.

In terms of suspension and handling, the Q3 features McPherson struts with forged aluminum lower wishbones at the front and a four-link rear axle with separate spring/shock absorber. Other chassis and suspension features include: Electromechanical power steering with speed-dependent power assist, and ESC with off-road mode and hill descent assist.

The exterior boasts compact SUV proportions, rocking xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and taillights. The Q3 rides on 18in standard wheels, but a 19in option is available. On the inside, leather seating and heated 12-way power front seats are standard, with total seating for up to five passengers. The cargo area offers ample room, with an available luggage capacity of 16.2 cu ft with the back seats up and with the seats folded down a total of 48.2 cu ft is available.

LED lighting on the exterior continues into the interior. Optional equipment available for the interior includes: Sport package with sport seats flossing adjustable thigh support, Driver Assistance package boasting side assist and parking system with rearview camera, MMI navigation plus with 7.0in color display, power tailgate with programmable preset opening angle, Prestige trim package including extended infotainment and convenience features including Audi connect, Audi side assist using radar to help with lane changes, and BOSE sound system.

Pricing and EPA numbers will be announced closer to the fall 2014 on-sale date.
