2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG Details:

Shown as a concept at the 2013 LA Auto Show, the GLA45 AMG is now official and will now be hitting showrooms as early as fall 2014. With an AMG appointed exterior, interior and engine this compact SUV is aimed to attract the younger crowed looking for a versatile and powerful compact SUV.

The GLA45 AMG is equipped with a 2.0L four-cylinder turbo engine that is claimed to produce 355hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. A DCT 7-speed sports transmission and AMG 4MATIC four-wheel-drive puts the power to the ground. The GLA45 AMG can make the 0-60mph sprint in 4.8sec and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
The engine features a spray-guided direct gas injection with piezo injectors positioned centrally in the four combustion chambers and an injection pressure of 200 bar. The multiple fuel-injection and multiple spark ignition not only improves fuel economy but also lowers exhaust emissions.
Several other highlights of the 2.0L engine include gravity-die sand-cast all-aluminum crankcase, weight-optimized crank mechanism with forged steel crankshaft, forged pistons with friction-optimized piston rings, Nanoslide cylinder liner technology, air-to-water intercooling system, alternator management and ECO stop/start function.
The GLA45 AMGs drive system uses front-wheel-drive during normal driving for optimal efficiency and when needed the variable four-wheel-drive system splits the torque between the front and rear axles at a 50:50 ratio.
BRAKES & WHEELS:
AMG high-performance brakes feature vented and perforated brake discs all-around and gray-painted brake calipers. Red-painted calipers are available as an option.
5-twin-spoke AMG alloy wheels painted in titanium gray with high-sheen finish are standard mounted to 235/45 R19 tires. 10-spoke AMG alloy wheels in titanium gray with high-sheen finish or matte black with high-sheen rim flange are optional mounted to 235/40 R20 tires
The GLA45 AMG is fitted with a McPherson front axle and four-link rear axle. The Sports suspension features tuned spring/damper units and larger anti-roll bars ensuring high lateral acceleration and reduced body roll. An AMG performance suspension with firmer spring and damper tuning is optional.
The front splitter and twin blade radiator grille are painted matte titanium gray. AMG lettering at the side between the louvers of the radiator grille is featured as well as black air deflector elements above the large cooling air intakes at the sides that ads a unique look. Bi-xenon headlights complete the look upfront and come standard.
Side sill panels feature titanium gray inserts along with the Turbo AMG lettering on the front fenders. The rear is completed with a diffuser insert with titanium gray trim and rectangular chrome-plated trim of the twin exhaust pipes.
Optional upgrades for the exterior include: an aerodynamics package with large front splitter, additional air deflectors on the front fascia, rear spoiler and Night package. Other options include: carbon fiber exterior mirror housings, carbon fiber package with front splitter, side sill panel, insert and rear fascia trim, and twin blade of the radiator grille in solver chrome, rear spoiler and Night package with black anodized waistline trim strip, silver chrome radiator grille louvers, high-gloss black front splitter, exterior mirrors, side sill panel insert and rear fascia trim, two tailpipes with black rectangular trim. And finally red painted brake calipers with black AMG lettering are an option.
‘Edition 1’ is a special option that includes these upgrades for the exterior: high-gloss black aerodynamic package with larger front splitter, additional air deflector elements and rear airfoil. Silver gray/red AMG racing stripes on the sides and read highlights on the radiator grille, exterior mirrors, diffuser insert and rear airfoil and special badging make it stand out further. Red painted calipers and multi-spoke AMG alloy wheels painted matte black with red rim flanges with 235/40 R20 tires also separate the 'Edition 1' model.
The interior features sport seats upholstered with MB-Tex man-made leather/Dinamica microfiber with red contrasting topstitching. The 3-spoke nappa leather steering wheel with paddle shifters is multifunctional with red contrasting topstitching and perforated leather in the grip area. The instrument cluster and central color display shows an AMG main menu and Racetimer. Brushed aluminum completes the trim of the instrument panel while the front door sills are finished in brushed stainless- steel.
Optional upgrades for the interior include: performance steering wheel in black nappa leather/Alcantara and performance contoured seats with integral head restraints upholstered in leather or MB-Tex leather/Dinamica microfiber. Carbon fiber trim and leather upholstery in black, crystal gray, nut brown or black ‘red cut’ design completes the list.
‘Edition 1’ trim on the interior includes: red contrasting topstitching on the seats upholstered in MB-Tex man-made leather/Dinamica microfiber, the door center panels, upper section of the instrument panel and steering wheel. The E-select lever is embossed with the AMG emblem and the trim of the instrument panel compliments the stripes on the side of the vehicle while shiny and matte elements throughout complete the look.
