Scion xD Sno Drift Rally Details:

  • Scion brings Matt Johnson as a new driver for the Rally xD
  • Sno Drift Rally held in Atlanta, MI
  • Scion takes 1st place

Scion Racing is starting the year off strong substantially with its rally division. This past weekend the Scion Racing Rally xD team started another season of the Rally America Championship. Despite the ruthless weather conditions, freezing temperatures, and new driver Matt Johnson the team managed to destroy the competition taking 1st place at Sno Drift Rally in Atlanta, MI. The win gave the team crucial points for the season and a huge lead in the 2WD division.

"We could not have asked for a better result or better drive from our new driver Matthew," said team manager Philip Chase. "We're in a familiar spot as we won this event last year but as we all know, the season is long and challenging and there is still lots of preparation work to come."

Matthew Johnson hasn't been behind the wheel of a rally car in four years and is only four rounds away from the championship.

"It feels really good to be behind the wheel again. I'll tell you how we know that I'm starting to get serious about the notes again. I'm starting to ask notes from Jeremy. That morning he had to keep backing off from the notes to get with where I was and where my head was. Now I'm like what's next? What's next? We're getting back integrated," says Matt Johnson.

Next stop for the Scion Racing Rally xD team is Salem, MO for the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood on February 21st-22nd.
