Who says grocery-getters can't be circuit heroes? Not BMW; the German automaker seems inclined to adapt sporty M Performance to any form factor it produces, and that includes hulking MILF-mobiles like the third generation X5. At the Chicago Auto Show this week, the OEM unveiled a full lineup of BMW M Performance accessories for the SUV, including both power and cosmetic bits.

At the top of the list is the M Performance Power Kit available for the 3.0L turbocharged inline-six found in the X5 xDrive35i; it makes throttle response sharper and adds 20hp and 32 lb-ft of torque, raising output to 320hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. There's also an M Performance exhaust with chrome tips that can help owners announce their newfound bump in power to the world around them. To make sure things don't get too hairy, BMW offers upgraded stopping power in its M Performance Brake Kit, an adaptation of the six- piston calipers with 19-inch steel rotors from the previous generation X5M.

Exterior accessories in the lineup consist of carbon fiber mirror caps, front splitter, rear diffuser and rear aero flaps. M Performance double-spoke 21-inch rims are also an option, as are rear spoiler, high-gloss black kidney grilles and M Performance rocker panel decals. The X5 cabin can also be outfitted with M Alcantara and carbon steering wheel, carbon gear selector cover and stainless steel pedals.

BMW M Performance Parts carry a four-year or 50,000-mile factory warranty and can be folded into a lease from BMW Financial Services when installed at a BMW Vehicle Distribution Center before the time of delivery. You can learn more about these parts and others from an authorized BMW Center or online at www.shopbmwusa.com.
