Audi RS 7 Dynamic Edition Details:
The 2014 Audi RS 7 already impressed us on a recent luxury sports sedan comparison, but the German automaker has prepared yet another variant of the amazingly quick car at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. Behold the Audi RS 7 Dynamic Edition.
Priced at $146045 including destination, the RS 7 Dynamic Edition commands a $40295 premium over the 2014 Audi RS 7's $105795-base price, but then again, the run-of-the-mill RS 7 isn't quite as special as this RS 7. The Dynamic Edition sets itself apart by wearing RS 7 logos on Tornado-Red-painted brake calipers and 21" gloss-black wheels. The front splitter, engine cover, and diffuser are also adorned with carbon fiber, while four exterior colors (Ibis White, Suzuka Gray Metallic, Daytona Gray Pearl, and Phantom Black Pearl) are made exclusively for the Dynamic Edition. Inside, the special RS 7 gets Black Valcona leather seats with a honeycomb pattern. Red contrast stitching appears all over the place, such as the seats, dashboard, gear lever, door panels, and center console. Crimson Red seatbelts add another pop of color against all the black upholstery, while carbon fiber bits complete the look.
Thankfully, the extra $40000 doesn't just give the Dynamic Edition a visual upgrade. Audi has outfitted the special RS 7 with a DRC suspension which makes use of three-stage adjustable dampers that are hydraulically cross-linked an integrated into the Audi drive select system. That, along with the standard sport differential will result in "maximum performance driving," says Audi. It also wouldn't be the RS 7 Dynamic Edition without "dynamic steering" which Audi says adapts the steering boost and ratio for more precise handling. The RS 7's twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, good for 560hp, on the other hand, is left alone, but that's not a bad thing.
"Engine and trans are superb in the wild. It cruises along in traffic like it's a 2.0-liter turbo, but open the taps and it shoots through holes in traffic like a sniper rifle," we said of the RS 7's mill in the luxury sports sedan comparison. The RS 7 hit 60mph in a remarkably quick 3.2sec, which is quickest time we've ever recorded for a four-door vehicle.
The Audi RS 7 Dynamic Edition will be available for our driving pleasure (if you can afford it) early this summer.
