Infiniti Q80 Inspiration Concept Details

  • Infiniti calls the concept a "four-passenger fastback"
  • Model will be shown in concept form at Paris Motor Show next month
  • Halo coupe will be closer to the Essence than the more recent Emerg-E hybrid sports car concept

When Infiniti debuted its current naming scheme, it was clear that there was room for a flagship model above the Q70. Now, the luxury brand has teased the first shadowy image of that car, which it calls the Q80 Inspiration. The model will be shown in concept form at the Paris Motor Show next month, and will likely preview a production version.

Infiniti calls the Q80 Inspiration a "four-passenger fastback," and from the profile view it appears to have a long wheelbase similar to the Infiniti Essence concept of a few years ago. The roofline is also similarly low-slung, and we can almost make out the signature kink in the rear quarter window.

Former Infiniti CEO Johan de Nysschen said previously that the brand's halo coupe would be closer to the Essence than the more recent Emerg-E hybrid sports car concept, and this teaser seems to confirm that. In addition to the Q80 coupe, Infiniti is also said to be working on a four-door Q90 version to take on the Porsche Panamera and others. We've heard that a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 hybrid setup will provide around 550 hp for base models, while a twin-turbo 3.7-liter V-6 hybrid will produce a combined 700 hp for top-line models.

We'll have to wait until October 2 to see exactly what Infiniti has in store, but until then take a look at the teaser and tell us what you think the brand's flagship coupe needs in order to be a hit.
