Scion isn't revealing much about the concept car it will debut at the Los Angeles auto show next month, but it could be a promising look into the brand's future design direction and changing priorities. The Scion iM Concept will make its full reveal November 19, two days before the show opens to the public.
Based on a few teaser images the company has released, the iM sports a typical quirky Scion grille. Dark wheels and unique lighting near the front bumper make the biggest impression.
We see a strong resemblance to the Toyota Auris, a Corolla-derived compact hatchback available in Europe. Perhaps this concept signals a replacement to the xB hatch that has long been on the chopping block.
In a recent press statement, Scion says the new car "reflects the evolution of Scion as the needs and desires of its youthful customers also evolve." A few years ago, Scion shifted its marketing focus from college-aged students to older Millennials starting with a "What Motivates You" campaign that showcased young professionals. We'll have to wait and see if the iM has what it takes to appeal to a slightly older -- but still budget-conscious -- audience.
