Starting today, gamers can download the Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo car for Gran Turismo 6. But the model is not just for the virtual world, as Infiniti says it also previews what we can expect to see on a future high-performance car.
The Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo was inspired by the design team's goal to design a "pure Infiniti GT car." It all started with a global competition that allowed fans to come up with their own ideas. Collaborating with the creators of Gran Turismo, Infiniti's design team in Beijing then sketched the winning car before hand-sculpting and digitally refining the model.
According to Infiniti, the concept car packs a front mid-ship/trans-axle powertrain with a 45:55 front/rear weight balance, which should allow virtual drivers to drift the rear to their heart's delight. Aerodynamically speaking, the car packs front and back diffusers, under-floor airflow control, and an aggressive rear spoiler. And for show, it has scissor doors and massive blacked-out wheels.
"Part beauty, part beast, its shape is powerful, sensual and audacious – a mix of a track machine and the dream of our Chinese design team to create an ambitious racing language for Infiniti," Infiniti said in a statement this week.
Judging from its overall shape, the Vision Gran Turismo looks a lot like the Q80 Inspiration, but taken to a whole other level. Infiniti's concept car joins the similarly-aggressive Nissan 2020 Vision Gran Turismo that debuted in July.
