WATCH: 2016 Mercedes-Maybach Vs. Bentley Mulsanne Speed

Luxury limos square off in battle of 500-plus horsepower heavy hitters

This episode of "Head 2 Head" delves into the world of the rich and famous with the new 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 and the Bentley Mulsanne Speed. Hosting this battle of luxury limos is senior features editor Jonny Lieberman, who spends most of his time in the back seat while associate editor Scott Evans is commissioned for chauffeuring duties.

The experience from the back seat is mostly the same for both vehicles. The Maybach stands out thanks to its reclining, airplane-like seats, while the Bentley impresses with outstanding craftsmanship and better execution of what Lieberman calls the “champagne solution.” Both cars are quiet, though the Maybach coddles with a smoother and more buttery ride.

Then there’s power. The Bentley, of course, makes tons of it thanks to a 6.8-liter, twin-turbo V-8 that pumps out 530 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Maybach produces 523 hp and 612 lb-ft from a twin-turbo, 6.0-liter V-12. The Maybach is slightly faster to 60 mph (4.8 versus 5.0 seconds), mostly due to the Bentley’s tank-like curb weight of 6,041 pounds.

The Bentley is the most expensive car, too, with an as-tested price of $411,123, almost twice as much as the Maybach. Price, however, is rarely an issue when considering vehicles like these, and it plays little part in Lieberman’s pick for the winner of this "Head 2 Head." Watch the video to see which car wins.
