Audi Builds Six-Door, Drop-Top A3

Limo-style, open-air, 8-passenger A3 built because it can be

Audi launched the A3 for the 2015 model year with a variety of variants, including a diesel and PHEV model. But what it didn't launch is a six-door, eight-passenger version. The automaker released photos on its Facebook page showing the latest one-off variant, which reminds us of a drop-top limousine.

It looks as though Audi used the last-gen Euro-Spec A3 cabriolet as the starting point for this project. It seems that Audi stretched out the wheelbase just enough to stick in another rear bench seat in the middle of the car. The trunk also looks to be expanded, which would make sense when considering just how large that convertible top has to be. We're curious to know if it's power-operated like the standard A3 cabrio's top, or if it's just too big and needs a set of helping hands.

$32,500 Base Model (MSRP) MPG Fuel Economy

This model won't be going on sale in Germany or here in the U.S., so why did Audi decide to build the A3 Cabrio XXL? Because why not? We'd think this model was Photoshopped if we didn't see people actually occupying all eight seats. The passengers look like they're getting ready to grab lunch, making us wish we could see the model in action.
