TOOLS WORTH OWNING
Having the right tools can mean the difference between you being able to drive your Golf to work tomorrow morning or it hanging out on jackstands. That's when you should start thinking about a company like OEM Tools, which offers the sort of pro-quality tools and gear you need to get your project back on the ground. Tools like its recently introduced Master Inner Tie Rod Tool Set that lets you easily remove and re-install inner tie rods without having to remove your car's rack and pinion. And tools like its 1/2-Inch-Drive Air Impact Wrench and the 42-Piece 3/8-Inch-Drive Master Impact Set you know you need. OEM Tools' inner tie rod removal set includes SAE and metric adapters and 12 crowfoot-style adapters to handle a variety of models. OEM Tools' new impact wrench was designed with a unique and compact body, allowing it to fit into tight spaces but still yield an impressive 900 lb-ft of torque all while weighing in at less than 3 pounds. Finally, like the Master Inner Tie Rod Tool Set and its sturdy, blow-molded case, the 42-piece impact set that's made up of a variety of SAE and metric sockets, both deep and shallow, comes with its own EVA Tray with custom cut contrast soft foam to keep tools organized and ready for the next job. Most trays also have sizes etched inside for quick and easy identification.
You know that the parasitic drive from your engine's accessory belts is robbing you of that last few horsepower, but you're not about to yank that A/C or your alternator from your engine. Awesome GTI has the answer, courtesy of Neuspeed and its Power Pulley Kit that's available for EA888 Gen 3 engines like those found in the Golf MK7 as well as select Audis. Neuspeed's recently introduced crankshaft pulley kit is manufactured from 7075-grade aluminum and has been hard-anodized for durability. The innovative construction process required to bring the pulley kit to market, one which saw Neuspeed's powertrain engineers utilize sophisticated CAD software and conduct a mass properties analysis of the crankshaft itself, means it's not just effective, it also tips the scales at just 13 ounces—a significant reduction compared to the 64 ounces stock piece. Extensive road, track and dyno testing has also revealed the pulley kit to have genuine, real-world performance benefits. Representing a 20 percent under-drive reduction, the kit dramatically cuts down parasitic drag, which means sharpened throttle response, quicker revving, and, best of all, a 5-7hp hike. The kit ships with everything required for a straightforward installation process, including a new under-drive crankshaft pulley, crankshaft bolt, and ribbed belt.
E36 EXHAUST PRESERVATION
Exhaust maker Milltek hasn't forgotten about classics like BMW's E36-chassis M3, 325i, and 328i and proves it with the addition of a series of exhaust systems to its already extensive lineup. Milltek's latest systems are effective, yielding modest power gains and reducing weight, and do so with a relatively OEM-like appearance that doesn't disrupt the cars' classic looks. Milltek's systems, which connect to the factory downpipe, are available with optional, high-flow catalytic converter bypass pipes that further reduce mass and result in more power and even better throttle response. Manufactured at Milltek's own U.K.-based factory entirely from T304 stainless steel and with built-in resonators for sound reduction, the company's bypass pipes were designed for track-day use and for markets that don't require catalytic converters. The finishing touch to the hand-finished systems are the mufflers, which can also be used on their own. This muffler uses the latest design and manufacturing techniques, is topped off with a perfectly proportioned pair of OEM-style stainless tips, and sounds even nicer than it looks. Each exhaust system features mandrel-bent piping, also made of T304 stainless steel, and, according to Milltek, has been gas-flow-tested to ensure maximum performance throughout the rev range, and offers a sonorous straight-six exhaust note, all backed by a limited lifetime guarantee.

A TIMEPIECE ON PAR WITH THE 911 RSR
Porsche Design recently unveiled its all-new and innovative Monobloc Actuator watch collection at the Baselworld 2017 Watch and Jewelry Fair in in Basel, Switzerland. A reflection of Porsche's motorsports history, Porsche Design says its latest timepiece was inspired by the high-rpm mechanical valve control of the new 911 RSR and shares the same carbon fiber on its dial as the RSR and red, black, and white color scheme as the company's GT works team. According to Porsche Design, its engineers created an integrated rocker switch that controls the chronograph's operation entirely from inside the watch's case, and goes on to say that this sort of paradigmatic example of performance at the highest level exemplifies precision engineering in the smallest possible space. Each of the chronograph's buttons are fitted seamlessly into the watch's case, and with what Porsche Design calls a "multiply-borne rocker switch" that sets into motion and stops the chronograph mechanism. Like the valves in the 911 RSR's engine, they say, this mechanism provides absolute precision, dependability, and continual, reliable protection against moisture penetration throughout operation. In addition to the four available models that make up the collection, a 251-piece, limited-edition version, which pays homage to the 911 RSR's 251cm wheelbase and the Porsche Motorsport GT works team, will be available later this year.
A WINNING TURBO
Renowned Audi and VW tuner 034Motorsport announces the introduction of its all-new R460 Hybrid Turbocharger System for the 8V Audi S3, 8S Audi TTS, and MK7 Volkswagen Golf R. Designed as a turnkey solution, the company's R460 system safely delivers significant increases in horsepower and torque but without sacrificing response and reliability. To be sure, it's the same turbo system that helped 034Motorsport win last year's european car magazine Continental Tire 2.0T Tuner GP with its S3 development vehicle that, if you recall, laid down 408 whp and 382 lb-ft of torque. According to 034Motorsport, the kit's good for as much as 435 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque when tuned using 104-octane fuel. Systems are based off of German firm LOBA's venerable LO462-EA888 turbocharger with its billet-aluminum compressor wheel and clipped turbine wheel and are accompanied by 034Motorsport's own tuning software that yields as much as 26 psi of boost all while altering fuel and ignition tables for optimal performance. Beru spark plugs and all necessary gaskets and hardware are also included with each kit for a straightforward installation.
CUSTOM-FIT BIG-BRAKE UPGRADE
High-performance brake system distributor VBT (Vagbremtechnic) has good news for select Audi and VW owners. After months of research and development, the U.K.-based firm is proud to introduce its latest system for the MK7 Golf as well as Audi 8V A3 and S3 models that blends some of Brembo's most sophisticated calipers with suitably capable discs and the company's own carriers to create what VBT says is one of the most complete offerings available. Kits include a pair of four-piston Brembo calipers along with the appropriate carriers that've been machined out of lightweight aluminum, two AP Racing-based 362mm grooved or drilled rotors, HEL Performance braided brake lines, and all the hardware you'll need to complete the installation. Match it all with your own choice of pads and brake fluid, which can be purchased separately, and you've got the makings for one of the most capable brake systems around. So capable, in fact, that it's virtually the same system you'll find as standard issue on Audi's TTRS and RS3 models, which means you're getting the right blend of OEM quality but without sacrificing performance. VBT's kits look good, too, with a number of color options available for its calipers that can be customized with or without the VBT logo.

AN EXHAUST FOR AN ICON
Few cars can claim to have had as much of an impact on the world of motorsports as the Audi UR (A1/A2) Quattro. This four-wheel drive monster effectively rendered the likes of the Ford Escort and Fiat 131 Abarth obsolete overnight, and it's all but impossible to see an image of the Quattro without subconsciously hearing its five-pot bark. Well aware of the UR Quattro's place in the hearts of the performance community, Milltek has now taken the wraps off of its latest offering, a bespoke exhaust designed for both 10v and 20v variants of Audi's WRC monster. It promises to be a must-fit part for anyone lucky enough to own one of these iconic beasts. Evidence of this can be seen in its stunning construction with T304 aircraft-grade steel used throughout and welds that are on par with works of art. Further clues as to the amount of modern thinking utilized in the creation of the system can be found in the pipework itself, with each and every bend having been created using Milltek's state of the art, high-flow mandrel bending machine. This, in turn, has results in superb gas flow properties. Milltek isn't known for overlooking factory faults and, as a result, its Quattro exhaust features a modified rear mounting point that's been shown to dramatically reduce movement of the rear silencer when cornering, not to mention revised routing of the pipework over the axle to ensure no exhaust-to-body contact. Quattro owners have their choice between polished or Cerakote black tailpipes, the latter of which is a suitably menacing shade, which suits the UR perfectly. Milltek's latest offering is a fitting addition to the Classic range, and also a part that manages to combine two normally hard-to-reconcile ideals—OEM looks and modern performance.

THE BODY SHOP ALTERNATIVE
3M Auto introduces its latest revolutionary scratch removal system, the 3M Small Area Sanding Kit. The all-new kit is based around three simple steps that'll remove scratches from a car's clearcoat, smooth out the surface, and polish up the area using 3M's flexible abrasive technology. Now, clearcoat scratches can be removed affordably and without the help of a body shop. The professional-grade kit has been engineered with 3M's flexible abrasive technology that allows the kit to work fast and last longer than traditional abrasives, while reducing any unnecessary sanding. For best results, start with 1000-grit sandpaper to remove dust nibs and paint runs in the basecoat. A 1500-grit sheet can then applied to the scratch to smooth out dust nibs and paint runs on the clearcoat. Finally, the 2000-grit sheet is used to polish the clear coat and to remove any signs of the scratch. 3M knows that scratches are unavoidable. The company also knows it's typically cost-prohibitive to fix every one of them, which is why it developed its Small Area Sanding Kit that can remove scratches and restore that unblemished finish.
