2017 Fiat 124 Spider Stars in New "Blue Pill" Commercial

Fiat releases two new ads for the Italian roadster

Remember that rather risque Fiat 500X Super Bowl ad from last year? The spot won both laughs and critical praise for the depiction of an elderly Italian man bemoaning the loss of his final Viagra. Well, the Italian automaker won't let that geriatric love story end on a bad note and returns with another "Blue Pill" ad for the upcoming 2017 Fiat 124 Spider.

This time around, there isn't a blue pill for our hero to accidentally toss into the gas tank of a Fiat 500X, as his medicinal reserves have run dry. As a quick "pick-me-up," he hops into the driver's seat of the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider parked nearby.

Viewers are treated to gorgeous moving shots of the black 124 Spider in action, and we get quite the earful of the deliciously Italian soundtrack from the Spider's 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. As for the elderly protagonist, well, you'll have to take a look for yourself in the video below. Let's just say it all works out in the end.

In addition to the "No Blue Pill Needed" spot, the 124 Spider stars in a second ad called "Free Like a Bird," featuring gratuitous moving shots of the roadster on tight mountain roads. While moving through the green surroundings, the roadster is chased by a large eagle, eventually coming to rest on the rear decklid of the car. The video was shot using the eagles themselves, with tiny action cams mounted to the birds of prey.
