2020 Audi A6 Allroad Confirmed for the U.S.

Rugged wagon returns with more tech, special edition

Wagon lovers rejoice! The 2020 Audi A6 Allroad has been confirmed for the U.S. This marks the nameplate's return after a long absence. Last month, Audi hinted that we could be getting the rugged wagon once again. Now, the automaker has made it official that we'll be getting another long-roofed model. Earlier this year, Audi announced that the 591-hp RS 6 Avant will be coming to the U.S for the first time.

When it arrives in the U.S., the 2020 Audi A6 Allroad will come with a generous list of standard equipment including 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, interior ambient lighting, and a Bang & Olufsen 3D audio system. The 2020 A6 Allroad will also get a specially calibrated air suspension with six modes. Auto and Comfort mode provides 5.5 inches of ground clearance while Dynamic drops the wagon's height by 0.6 inches. Off-road mode adds 1.2 inches of ground clearance and Lift mode further increases that by 0.6 inches at speeds of up to 21.7 mph. At its highest point, the 2020 Audi A6 Allroad has 7.3 inches of ground clearance.

The 2020 Audi A6 Allroad's powertrain specs are pretty familiar, a 3.0-liter turbo V-6 with 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Like the A6 sedan, this engine features a mild hybrid system featuring a 48-volt battery system mounted under the cargo floor. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic will be the only transmission offered. Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system comes standard on the 2020 A6 Allroad.

In celebration of the 2020 A6 Allroad's return, Audi will produce a special Anniversary Edition. It will come exclusively in Gavial Green exterior, which pays homage to the old Highland Green color from nearly two decades ago. Inside, the 2020 Audi A6 Allroad features Sarder Brown Valcona leather upholstery with Fine Nappa accents, fine grain ash natural noble wood, and stainless-steel pedals and footrest.

The show must go on, as they say, and so that’s exactly what organizers of the much-loved annual Tokyo Auto Salon did, taking the 3-day event that usually happens in Chiba’s Makuhari Messe convention center and translating it (metaphorically, not literally; it was still largely in Japanese) into both streaming video and 3D. Super Street: Anytime we talk about a vehicle prototype, the overwhelming response, once some of the initial smoke has cleared (and people are done cursing out the manufacturer and demanding that their design team be fired immediately), centers heavily on claims that the production car will look nothing like the demo car. In some cases,

You know the name Joel Tan (@jt_built) from his wildly popular SR20DET-swapped, ‘40s-era Willy’s Jeep that mingles among the top of Super Street’s most popular feature cars of all time, and we expect his 1972 Nissan Skyline GT-R and Toyota Trueno of the same birth year will also have a lasting impression. Both cars feature

The “most powerful 3-cylinder in the world,” applied to Toyota’s much talked about GR Yaris still sounds a little strange when you hear it, but you can’t deny the nasty 250+hp and over 260 lb-ft. of torque that are delivered through an eager AWD system, all packed into a relatively lightweight (by modern hatchback standards)

As if to pour a little salt into the wound that the hottest hatch in ages, the AWD Toyota GR Yaris, is not being brought to North America, the interwebs has begun to conspire against us by teasing us with modified versions from some of the biggest tuners in the biz. In December, those sneak
