700-Plus HP Bisimoto Tucson for SEMA Show Announced

Bisi Ezerioha building his first CUV for fourth year of Hyundai partnership

Sep 21, 2015

It's not a huge surprise tuner Bisimoto Engineering and Hyundai have teamed up for another crazy SEMA Show build this year; they've been doing it since 2012. The bigger revelation, we feel, is always which platform the Korean carmaker hands over to Bisi Ezerioha and his team, and for 2015 it'll be a first in more ways than one. Hyundai has announced the 2016 Tucson is what Bisi has to work with, which marks his first CUV for this kind of build.

Aiming for somewhere north of 700 horsepower, the Bisimoto "Brute Ute" will swap out Tucson's native power plant for Hyundai's 2.4-liter "Theta-II" unit, similar to last year's 2015 Sonata, which has been upgraded with Golden Eagle cylinder sleeves, strengthened internals, Turbonetics turbo, AEM Infinity aftermarket engine management, and a switch to flex-fuel status. The crossover is also furnished with a custom Air Ride Equipment airbag suspension, white fifteen52 Tarmac R43 19-inch wheels, and sticky, Toyo R888 R-compound rubber (see below for the full mod list).

Bisimoto's Brute Ute follows last year's Sonata, 2013's Genesis Coupe, and 2012's Elantra GT. The Tucson will be revealed at Hyundai's SEMA press conference on November 3 at 11:30 a.m. PT in Las Vegas. Keep an eye on our coverage and the hashtag #HyundaiSEMA to stay up to speed on all of this year's SEMA activity.
