Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup is race car at Race of Champions

After its debut last year the Scirocco R-Cup car will again be fielded at the Race of Champions in 2011. The world's best racers will meet with each other in the bio natural gas coupe at the Dusseldorf Football Arena on 3 and 4 December. "We're proud that the organisers of the Race of Champions have again selected the Racing Scirocco as a race car. This shows the prestige which the Scirocco R-Cup enjoys worldwide as a one-make cup," says Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen. The list of entrants reads like the international motorsport hall of fame. The new Volkswagen rally driver Sebastien Ogier, the Formula One world champions Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher and Jenson Button, the eight-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen and the DTM champions Martin Tomczyk, Timo Scheider and Mattias Ekström will compete at the event, among others. The Scirocco R-Cup will be the only vehicle featuring an alternative drive concept at the Race of Champions.
