Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson took their fourth podium of the 2012 FIA World Rally Championship at Brother Rally New Zealand this past weekend.

While we in the U.S. are experiencing the start of summer New Zealand is in their winter. Tire selection was key as heavy rainstorms soaked every stage for the weekend. Ford Racing senior manager Gerard Quinn said: “On a weekend where tire choice was critical and the weather made for challenging driving, I’m satisfied to finish this rally and close the first half of the season with a podium.”

Adding to Ford Racing’s exciting weekend was Ken Block. No it’s not Gymkhana 5 (although that is pretty exciting), it was his performance in Auckland; finishing 9th overall adding two more championship points for the team. “I’m stoked with how this rally went for us,” said Block. “The roads here in New Zealand are some of the best in the world. The camber in the corners is such a unique feature here, there’s truly nowhere else like it. I wish the rally wasn’t over actually, I could just keep driving these roads, they’re that much fun.” This pushes Ford Racing up to third overall in the FIA WRC Championship.
