Jaguar recently received another award for the popular XF. This time, it was for something that left us scratching our heads. The luxurious XF sedan took Overall Best Towcar for 2012 after rigorous testing by Practical Caravan, in association with the British Camping and Caravanning Club and What Car? magazine.

Often referred to as Britain’s toughest towcar test, it might be unconventional to hear a luxury sedan win a tow-off, but it did just that.

Now in its sixth year, the 2012 Towcar Awards saw 34 of the latest models hitched to caravans in the quest to find the best. Testing included a thorough examination of the car’s practicality and stability assessments.

Using a European 2.2L turbo-diesel model, the judges noted: “…it was unanimously thought that the Jaguar XF is just (a) bit more special. The Jaguar is an outstanding car, whether towing or solo. When towing, its stability is unshakeable and at times it’s as if the caravan isn’t there. Its performance during the testing process was exemplary.”
