“And lo, they did rejoice, for there was a new Ferrari among them...” Some people see the Prancing Horse as far more than a car badge; the introduction of a new model being akin to a religious experience. The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta comes with power and glory; it’s the fastest road-going model the company has produced to date. Zero to 62 mph takes just 3.1 seconds. Keep on the throttle and 124 mph is achieved in 8.5 seconds. Top speed is claimed to be over 211 mph. Yet Ferrari says the F12 is 30 percent more fuel-efficient than the car it replaces, the 599 GTB Fiorano. The front-mounted, 6.3-liter V12 makes 740 hp and 508 lb-ft of torque (128 hp and 60 lb-ft more than the 599). Then there’s all sorts of Formula One-derived transmission and suspension trickery, plus carbon-ceramic brakes and a special handling package. Amen to that, brother.
