What’s wide, sleek and four-wheel drive? Give up? It’s the new Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and 4s (available as a Coupé and Cabriolet). Finally, the car Porsche freaks have been waiting for. While most of the early anxious buyers jumped on the base model and S model Carreras the devout collectors seem to have been waiting in the wings for a few extra options to be added. Like the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) for the all-wheel-drive equipped 4 and 4S models. The cars will make their “in-the-flesh” debuts later this year at the Paris Auto Show in September.

The new 991 models come in 44mm wider rear end along with 10mm wider tarmac grabbers (tires). Notable Performance enhancements:

Carrera 4 Coupé is 143 lbs. lighter, powered by a 3.4L, 350hp flat-six; 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds (4.5s Cabriolet) respectively and a top speed of 177mph (175mph Cabriolet). Achieving 20mpg city / 28mpg highway.

Carrera 4S Coupé powered by a 3.8L, 400hp flat-six; 0-60mph 3.9 seconds (4.1s Cabriolet), 185mph (183mph Cabriolet). Achieving 19mpg city / 26mpg highway.

Optional PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung) seven-speed gearbox is also available in Coupé and Cabriolet bodies.

The new 911 models will launch in the US early in 2013. The 2013 911 Carrera 4 will have a base MSRP of $91,030, and the 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet base MSRP will be $102,930. The 911 Carrera 4S will have a base MSRP of $105,630 and the Cabriolet will have a base MSRP of $117,530.
