Our sister publication, Motor Trend, chose the Porsche 911 Carrera S as its Best Driver's Car for 2012. The annual competition pits new or improved cars available against one another to find what the writers consider to be the most capable and entertaining car of the year.

To find the best car, the magazine’s editors submit each contender to a series of tests, including a 500-mile road trip, canyon drive and a track session at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in the hands of pro driver Randy Pobst. Once the numbers are revealed, the panel of seven judges declare a winner, revealing the vehicle that offers enthusiasts the most engaging and rewarding experience.

In addition to the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S, Motor Trend also considered the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, McLaren MP4-12C, Ford Shelby GT500, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series, Jaguar XKR-S, Nissan GT-R Black Edition, Lamborghini Aventador and 2013 Subaru BRZ Best Driver's Car is the highest honor Motor Trend gives to a performance vehicle, which is the reason it’s so coveted in the industry," said Editor Ed Loh. "Congratulations to Porsche and the 911 Carrera S for beating such a diverse, yet excellent field this year."

The test is featured during Best Driver's Car Week (August 20-24) on Motor Trend's website www.motortrend.com and YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/motortrend. Enthusiasts can follow all the track action at Laguna Seca and discover how each performed by viewing five separate stories and 11 videos.
