Baltimore is always an interesting stop for the American Le Mans Series. Like most street races, it’s tight, crowded and full of excitement. With perfect tire performance, stellar driving Team Falken managed to take the win just as they did last year on the streets of Baltimore.
Aside from light contact with the wall during practice, Team Manager Derrick Walker was able to have yet another successful test with Falken’s “new generation” tires, though he ended up choosing the same tires used at the 2011 Baltimore race which is what was used to set their track record there.
“It was a great all0around performance for Falken Tire. Our street circuit tire’s performance was outstanding and we were able to run very consistent lap times,” said Falken’s ALMS Supervisor Kevin Jones.
Team Driver Wolf Henzler started the race strongly in the Falken Tire Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, managing to avoid an accident in the first turn and navigating through the first lap, which is always most treacherous. Pit stops throughout the race were flawless and swift, enabling Team Driver Bryan Sellers to drive to P1 and maintain his position till the end of the race, holding off the #4 Corvette and #01 Ferrari which were both tight on the 911s tail lights.
Team Falken is heading to Road Atlanta next week for some practice before the season finale there on October 17-20. The next race is two weeks away for the Tequila Patron VIR 240 when the ALMS will visit Virginia International Raceway for the first time on Sept 13-15.
