Translated literally as the attractive car award, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann was presented the “La Bella Macchina” award during this years Concorso Italiano in Monterey, CA.

The award celebrates the Winkelmann’s continued dedication toward progressing the brand into future while honoring its heritage. Winkelmann stated, “ It’s quite and honor to accept this generous award... While ecstatic to be recognized, I’d like to point out that it was not just me alone. My entire team, our enthusiasts and loyal clients also play an integral role in Lamborghini’s momentum.”

Since the first award was handed out in 1992, Winkelmann adds his name next to Sergio Pininfarina, Stirling Moss and Lamborghini’s own test driver Valentino Balboni.

In order to qualify for the award a person must have made a significant contribution to the automotive industry (ideally in the Italian arena). Once qualified a committee of five people, including two former inductees, deliberate over the candidates and make their final decision.

Winkelmann is praised with the revitalization of Lamborghini’s presence in the hypercar and enthusiasts marketplace – see story of the Lamborghini Aventador achieving 1000 units built and sold milestone. The CEO of Lamborghini took the time to recognize the company’s 50th anniversary this coming year. It will be celebrated the world over with various events including a rally, The Grande Grio Lamborghini 50th Anniversario throughout Italy May 7-11th, 2013.
