This man dressed in a sweater and business suit will soon be responsible for the output of all future Bentley products. Most notably responsible for the Lamborghini Murcielago and Gallardo, it must be hoped that Luc Donckerwolke’s appointment as Director of Design will bring some energy to Bentley’s awkward EXP 9F concept for its first SUV.

Donckerwolke previously headed the Advanced Design department at Volkswagen Group, having began his career as an Audi exterior designer back in 1992. He then moved to Škoda in ’94 to lead exterior design before returning to Audi in ’96 with the same task. In ’98 he joined Lamborghini as design project manager, appointed Lamborghini’s Head of Design in ’03, then SEAT Director of Design in ’05.

Being deeply immersed in VW design language for more than 20 years, Donckerwolke should be able to continue Bentley’s strong design language.
