There aren't many reasons to visit Detroit in freezing January but BMW has just given us a reason to look up airfares after it announced the world debut of several new models will take place at the Motor City's auto show in January.
Leading the way will be the newly announced 4 Series Coupe - the renamed 3 Series Coupe, which will now be differentiated from the sedan with its own numbering system.
As we already highlighted in a news story here at www.europeancarweb.com, the 4 Series will feature a slightly longer wheelbase, wider stance and lower roofline than the 3 Series Sedan. The car will also be identified by satin-finish aluminum trim on air intakes, vents, exterior mirrors, etc.
Detroit will also see the arrival of the recently announced M6 Gran Coupe. This car was a badly kept secret for many months but it has tremendous presence in the flesh, promising spectacular performance from its 560hp twin-turbo V8 engine. The car also gets a characteristic carbon roof and other M signature additions such as side gills, quad exhaust tailpipes, larger intakes, etc.
Finally, we'll get to see the 2014 Z4 Roadster, which is more of a facelift to the existing model which will use the existing 2.0 and 3.0 turbo engines in three guises for the sDrive28i, 35i and 35is. You can read more about the features of this new model in the separate story here at www.europeancarweb.com
