AUDI LONG-TAIL R18 E-TRON FOR WEC RACE AT SPA

In its bid to claim the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), Audi is pulling out all the stops at Spa this weekend - the last race in preparation for the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Not only will it run three Audi R18 e-tron quattro racecars, but we will also see a new long-tail version of the hybrid car in Belgium for the first time.

The long-tail will be driven by Marc Gené/Lucas di Grassi/Oliver Jarvis. The new aerodynamic treatment generates extra downforce for tracks with longer straights, such as Spa and Le Mans, so this test will prove its stability and suitability.

Meanwhile, the winners of the opening round (Loïc Duval/Tom Kristensen/Allan McNish), as well as reigning WEC Champions (Marcel Fässler/André Lotterer/Benoît Tréluyer) will start in cars built to the same spec that won the last round at Silverstone.

The Spa race should be a thrilling battle between the World Champion Audi team and challenger Toyota. In the seven meetings that have taken place since last June, the score is 4-3 in favor of the Germans. The full race can be watched online at audi-liveracing.com
