A new addition to the Global Rallycross (GRC) series will debut this season. The GRC Lites class will support the existing Supercars class at all 2013 races.
The Lites are in a controlled 'spec' class, based on the Ford Fiesta and designed to emphasize driver skill. Built by OlsbergsMSE, the company responsible for most of the Fiestas in the Supercars class, the Lites will produce half the power of those Supercars. Designed specifically for developing new drivers, the Lites are equipped with all-wheel drive and have been built tough to absorb the rigors of a typical GRC car.
Running on the same course as the Supercars, the Last Chance Qualifiers and Final for the Lites class will run before the main races. And concluding the 2013 series, the Lites champion will be rewarded with a drive in an OlsbergsMSE Ford Fiesta ST Supercar. The top three finishers will also receive a Supercar test with OlsbergsMSE to help them advance into the big class.
