Today at the '08 SEMA Show, Kumho unveiled one of the thinnest tires we've ever seen in the market, a 385/15-22 Ecsta SPT KU31 tire. It's been developed as a new option for cars like the Ferrari F430, Dodge Viper and Corvette Z06.

Safety and traction ultimately come first so the company used its simulation technology to perfect the sidewall structure to help prevent against the formation of standing waves or ripples in the contact patch. This is often a common problem when the tires heat up at high speeds.

The new tire also has a semi-run flat technology so the tire can remain firm and fixed to the rim even if there's a puncture or loss of air pressure. This will help save your expensive 22s!

CEO of Kumho, Sae-chul Oh, had this to say: "The world's first 15 Series tire is a perfect example of what we have achieved through our ongoing commitment to research and development. This is one of many innovations by our company which include aroma, colored smoke and X-speed tires. We will maintain our position at the cutting edge of tire technology as we race towards our goal of becoming one of the world's top five tire makers."
