Hamann Aston Martin V8
The Aston Martin V8 is one of our favorite looking cars and Hamann Motorsport has tried its hand at refining the V8 Vantage and Vantage Roadster. A new suite of sports accessories and body parts makes the sportscar even more unobtainable. For the aerodynamics, form follows function and the airflow has been optimized over the car's silhouette to allow increased speed and attractive styling. The sportscar can be equipped with a lip spoiler or an entire front spoiler. Along the sides, the skirts give a lowered, stretched look. At the back, the spoiler fitted to the rear lid matches the three-piece diffuser, which in turn frames the tailpipes of Hamann's sports exhaust. The parts are available in fiberglass or matte carbon and these can be paired to the 21" Edition Race wheels. We'd also encourage you to visit www.hamann-motorsport.de for a video of the car, even though it's not moving.
We're all incredibly jealous the new Scirocco isn't coming to the States, and this Abt version illustrates just what we're missing. The look of the latest Abt Scirocco is certainly impressive, with itsdistinctive front spoiler that combines with the side skirts to create an aggressive design. Details such as air inlets and lines down the doors emphasize how the car rises toward the back. From the rear, the valance and quad tailpipe muffler forms a sportyunit with the Abt rear wing and rear panel. You can then add the company's 20" BR or AR wheels to complement the body kit. Other upgrades include springs to drop the Scirocco up to 30mm. There are also engine upgrades and a braking system with 345mm rotors. Oh well, we can dream...
BMW M3 And X5 Filtration
Advanced Flow Engineering
MSRP: from $98.92 (M3), $587.06 (X5)
Not a month goes by without aFe releasing new product, and this issue is no different. This time we have a drop-in filter with deep rounded pleats for the E90 M3 V8. Using five layers of progressive cotton media, it produces excellent filtration and flow. In fact, recent testing apparently showed it produces 54% more airflow than the factory filter. It's also available as a dry filter that uses two layers of synthetic media and requires no oiling after cleaning. Alternatively, there's the new aFe stage 2 air intake system for the 2000-06 BMW X5 (E53) With 4.4/4.8L V8. It's said to maximize air velocity and improve hp, torque, mpg and throttle response. Another test was said to have found 10hp and 20 lb-ft thanks to 87% more airflow than the factory intake. The durable powdercoated heat shield blocks engine heat for more consistent performance. It uses factory-mounting locations for easy installation.

BMW X5 and X6 drivers have a tough choice: sinful black or radiant silver? Those are the two color options offered in the latest version of AC Schnizter's Type VII wheel. RDSport RS35 Biturbo
Rdsport - MSRP: Website
You'll have read about it on the Garage Projects pages (et 5/08) and it's finally here: the RDSport RS35 Biturbo is the product of two years development on the BMW 335i.
Starting with a chassis, it consists of custom-valved Bilstein struts, stiffer springs and anti-roll bars. Sitting 25mm lower in the front, 20mm in the rear, the car has a more stable ride and aggressive stance. Twenty-inch RD2 Monoblock or optional RS2 multi-piece wheels, wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires, fill in the fenders. Under the hood, software mods have increased boost and optimized fuel and timing maps. These work with a free-flowing intake, larger intercooler and exhaust to give a claimed 389hp and 404 lb-ft for the R35 model. That's not enough? Then consider the RS35. It incorporates two new Garrett turbos to squeeze an alledged 425hp from the 3.0 motor to give the new M3 something to think about. As for bodywork, the revised carbon front bumper offers larger openings for better engine and brake cooling, with an exposed carbon section for the foglights. Deeper side skirts and a revised rear apron with quad exhaust cutouts add to the characteristic RDSport style, while carbon roof and trunk spoilers smooth the airflow over the car.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles
Rockstar Games - MSRP: $59.99 for Xbox360 and PS3, $39.99 for PSP
Welcome to Midnight Club: Los Angeles, the fourth edition of the Midnight Club franchise from Rockstar Games. The arcade-style racing game surprisingly keeps you entertained for hours, especially if you're familiar with the streets of Southern California. You can pick from over 40 cars and drive through Los Angeles to race your next victim. This version is similar to Midnight Club 3, but with improvements such as faster load times, fewer menus, more licensed tuning parts from BBS, Brembo, Momo and Sparco, etc, plus a diverse soundtrack of over 100 songs.
But the real fun is in driving. You can simply cruise the streets checking out landmarks such as Hollywood, Mulholland Highway or Beverly Hills. Or you can compete in over ten different types of races including time trials, tournaments, multiplayer, or pink slip challenges! Some of our favorite cars included an RS4, R32, Mk1 Rabbit, Scirocco, SL65 and R8. You can even try a Ducati 999R if you're into superbikes. We should warn you, this game isn't a true racing simulation. It's arcade-style, meaning you're basically on full throttle all the time. We found the multiplayer function to be the most entertaining, especially when dodging oncoming traffic at over 140mph down a city street. The multiplayer function supports up to eight players and you have the same racing options as in single player mode. The game has several customization features, but most of it is cosmetic. For example, the doors, headlights, vinyl, air ride and more can be personalized to your taste. The game also has special moves that help you win races or embarrass your opponents.
Synpower Full Synthetic Motor Oil
Valvoline - MSRP: $6.99
Since the latest API specifications reduced zinc-phosphorous levels in motor oil, enthusiasts were worried about protection since zinc-phosphorous has been crucial to preventing wear. It does so by reacting with the surface of the metal and forming a sacrificial layer that reduces metal-to-metal contact. So Valvoline has stepped up to the plate and created its SynPower Full Synthetic motor oil, which is the only leading synthetic formulated with longer lasting anti-wear chemistry because its low-volatility ZDDP formulation is claimed to retains zinc-phosphorous longer, thereby retaining engine protection.

Tid - MSRP: $279.99

Being a Volvo tuner in Osaka, Japan must be a lonely business, which possibly explains why Erst will be officially importing its parts for sale in the USA, Canada and Mexico via a new Vancouver, WA location. The company is also focused on establishing a network of dealers and high-end tuners, so contact them if you want to get involved.
The company name appears to represent the slogan "Evolve Rieger Style Tune" in typically eclectic Japanese style. It claims to have more than seven years experience designing products for Volvos and is introducing a body kit for the new V70 to kick-off its North America campaign. It's also introducing the VS5 wheel, as well as other products for everything from the 850 wagon to the XC90.

NAV-U GPS Navigation
Sony - MSRP: $249.99 to $399.99
If you're looking for a portable navigation device, you might want to take a look at Sony's latest Nav-U range, including the NV-U94T. Sony combined its resources to use technologies from many of its offerings to develop a well-rounded GPS nav family that also combines photo, Bluetooth and music capability.
The first thing you'll notice is its size and readability. The large 4.8" screen of the NV-U94T is bright and easy to read. Navigating is simple since you don't even need to know city names to enter destinations. An intuitive processor can find your destination based on street addresses, even if your spelling is wrong. Real time traffic is also included for an additional monthly fee, to give up-to-date traffic information as well as re-routing options. Perhaps the dual-view ability is the most helpful feature, splitting the screen to allow you to see the overall route as well as immediate and upcoming turns. If that wasn't enough, this top-of-the-line nav has a built-in chip to maintain your route even if you're in a tunnel.
In addition to all the nav features, Sony added a hands-free Bluetooth speaker into two of the Nav-U range, so you can dial and receive phone calls. The device also works seamlessly with other Sony platforms using its Memory Stick media. If you have a Sony digital camera or MP3 player, you can insert the media stick and use the files. The NV-U94T can then be synched with compatible Bluetooth head units.
There are plenty more features on this Sony nav, so we recommend you check out the website. If this top-end model is a little too expensive, there are also 4.3" screens and the 3.5" U44 model to choose from, but don't expect all the same features. And you'll also need a PC to download updates since they're not Mac compatible.
