While the release of the Audi A1 was already exciting, Audi has already made a concept of a eletric-driven e-tron model of the A1 in conjunction.
The Audi A1 e-tron will have a range of 31 miles in city traffic with a peak power of around 100hp. To recharge the battery, a compact engine starts up when energy is depleted. The elector motor is mounted in the front and the lithium-ion batteries sit in front of the rear axles. A small, single-rotor Wankel engine is used in this near-series concept vehicle to increase the range in exceptional circumstances. This "range extender" powers a generator that produces charging power. If the range extender is used to recharge the battery, the A1 e-tron can cover an additional 124 miles of range. According to a draft standard for the computation of fuel consumption for range extender vehicles, this represents a fuel consumption of 148.7mpg!
Unlike the regular A1, this concept car sports massive 18" wheels with a luxurious interior.
