New Volkswagen Sharan Minivan - Web Exclusive

Mar 1, 2010

VW’s famed family van is debuting at Geneva this week with a new facelift. The ’10 model will come equipped with sliding doors in the back – a Sharan first. And according to VW, every part except the sun visors is new from the body panels, screws, interior and engines.

The Sharan will be offered in both TDI and TSI engines as well as with a DSG option. A 3.0 and 5.5 liter Sharan will also be offered giving possible van owners some authority behind the wheel. This is thanks to a driving response similar to the Passat.

The interior is revamped with ‘EasyFold’ technology allowing the use of up to seven seats or having them folded down for extra cargo. Even the sunroof is rejuvenated with a panoramic sliding roof that opens 300% larger than the conventional roof. The Sharan will also be the first van to have automatic light assist control.

Available in three different versions – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline, the Sharan will launch this summer. Expect more details on North American models in the coming months.
