Pioneer Electronics has announced that Cartronics won its fourth annual Pioneer Sound Build-Off competition. It did so by building this year's ultimate sound demonstration vehicle using a 2010 Chevy Carmaro. The company prevailed over 11 other retail competitors from across the nation, and all utilized Pioneer's high-end Stage 4 car audio components, but only Cartronics won the grand prize of $10,000.

"We wanted the 2010 Sound Build-Off to illustrate the capabilities of the Stage 4 system' by producing the highest sound quality possible. It would also highlight the importance of a quality installation to achieve the ultimate in-car experience. Each participating retailer will use their demo car as a promotional and sales tool throughout the year to provide potential customers a chance to hear an expertly designed and installed Stage 4 system," said Ted Cardenas, director of marketing for Pioneer car electronics.

Dealers participating in the event were given approximately six weeks to build their vehicle around a package of Stage 4 products. Each of the 12 vehicles competing were evaluated and scored by official sound quality and installation judges using the 2010 International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) Pro Class rules. All attendees at the Build-off were also asked to vote for their favorite vehicle, which accounted for a portion of each competitor's overall score.

After an exciting day of judging, the 2010 Cartronics Camaro was declared the winner and awarded a $10,000 check plus the Pioneer Sound Build-Off championship trophy. A 1999 Mercedes CLK 430 from Sound Sensations was awarded second place, and a 2001 Chevy Corvette Z06 from Metro Audio Dynamics placed third.
